On a happier note - Incoming puppyViews: 221

I’ve wanted a small dog for about 2 years now. And finally (even though I’m 20) my mom said it’s okay.

I have been looking at all kinds of breeds from Italian Greyhounds to Chugs (Chihuahua+Pug. Finally after hours of searching I found someone only 45 minutes a way from my house who has a litter of 2 girls, and 2 boys. Toy Fox Terriers. They are ADORABLE!

My mother and a friend will be going out with me tomorrow around noon to go pick one out. They are pricey especially the girls because the parents are full bread AKC papered n’ all that competition stuff. I think the females are $400 and the males are $325.

I really want a little female, mainly because I some how magically have grown into a type of person I thought sickening. You know the women who buy little shirts and sun dresses for their dogs… We went out to Pet Co. The other day and I saw a pair of yellow feet jammies with chicks on the back. I said “Oh my dear! I MUST have these!” On a side note I’ve read they hate the cold and a dog sweater is a must have during the cold months. Too cute!

I called the woman today and she asked if I wanted it for a pet or to breed. She immediately said “Well we do have 2 lovely little boys who are as sweet as sugar.”

I just hope that she brings all 4 out so I can choose out of those 4 of which one I’d like.

Names
Girl – Delilah, or Cupcake
Boy – Theodore, or Doug. (Zac likes the name Sea Bass; I honestly considered that one because it’s just be funny)

I won’t be able to sleep tonight and this will keep me very busy for a long time so I won’t have time to think on things. Not to mention I’ll be forced to become more active.

I will pray again tonight and ask God for my big dog Joey to not think it’s a squiggly warm chew toy.

I will have a few pictures from my camera phone I’m sure and I’ll post a few up here.

It’s nice to have a distraction from the horribleness.

That is great. I hope the one you get does as much for you as mine did for me.
We had just gotten a Boston Terrier girl named Trixie that was the runt of the bunch and only weighed 3.4 lbs. when I found out I had cancer back in 1994. All during the time I was taking chemo, she lay with me on the couch in the crook of my legs behind my knees just as still and quiet as if to say “I will take care of you”. I fell hopelessly in love with her.

So happy to hear you excited about a new puppy! As a vet tech and owner of multiple dogs, I can appreciate! I have to say, I would go for the boy…we have a little male poodle named Bandito who’s the SWEETEST thing. Our female shih-tzu is a bit of a brat, as many small female dogs can be for some reason…and then you could put him in a little sailor suit! And I think Sea Bass is adorable too…but so is Theodore…tough call!

Post pictures!
: )

Dear Gemma; Now that sounds like the best idea yet. I am a cat person, having 2 girls,(sisters), all black with green eyes. They are just adorable and go out together to the front yard. Lots of people love to watch them roll on the driveway or crouch in the grass trying to catch bugs or birds. Any animal is precious and gives much more back than we can give them. The terrier that you are going to buy will give you great joy. Too bad you couldn’t take 2. I always find to brothers or two sisters really make for a wonderful family. In any case enjoy the adventure and we will look forward to your photos. Weezie

Mmmm…puppy breath! Watch out for the sharp baby teeth. How old are they? Are the parents show dogs, or just AKC registered? Watch out for contracts. Some breeders will want you to breed the females, and then they get pick of the litter. Make sure they’ve been seen by a vet and dewormed, and had at least one series of vaccines if old enough. I hope I’m not sounding like a bubble buster. I LOVE animals-vet tech too! I think vets and breeders are almost always at odds with each other. Take your time in picking. Have your own vet examine the pup within 48 hours-most breeders will agree to exchange the pup or take it back if there is something wrong. I know that sounds harsh, but I’m talking about major things like heart defects and cognitive disorders-life threatening things.

OK, off my high horse. I am very excited that you’re getting a puppy. I want a pomeranian, and I will sooooo dress her up! Have fun!

That is so great. I like the name cupcake. that is too cute. can’t wait to see photos!

I have 2 little dogs and you will love it. The first one was the smartest and best dog I have ever owned. I picked her up from a double wide trailer in the country somewhere between Dallas and Oklahoma. Everyone thought I was crazy to buy a dog for $600 in a trailer but I love her. The second dog I bought a few years later from a “reputable breeder”. I paid a lot more and she had a lot of problems. In addition, I am convinced she is a little retarded from too much inbreeding because I have never been able to get her completely housetrained. In any event, I love both the dogs and the little naughty one entertains me constantly. She chases her tail and sleeps on her back with legs in the air. I will try and post a photo.

Anyway, Congratulations on your new puppy. Dogs are wonderful and mine have matching outfits.

Wise decision,, a puppy, what a gift for someone in your predictament,,, it sure will help remove some of the stress from you and focus on that cute puppy,,, But even more than that it is the joy of hearing you ,,,, you make all your supporters smile because you are happy and you have such a big beautiful smile…
Whatever you choose for its name will be the proper one.
And thanks for sharing such a great and wonderful feeling about it…
Your friend Ray

I’m just getting a puppy myself. I don’t have one, or any other pets for that matter, so I think you doing this is quite a great idea. I love the name cupcake. Though you should adopt a puppy from a shelter instead, unless you want that breed in particular. They are lovely, after all. I think I’ll adopt, and my next blog will look like such a copy of yours, heh, but it is really a great thing to look forward to, and a little, lovely creature to take care of.
