I’m not sure what it is about this disease but 90% of the time I feel as if I’m different from everyone else; vastly different.
When I went to Six Flags with a few of my friends for almost a full 24 hours I felt like a normal young woman. And it was fantastic, I’m craving these outings with friends. But sadly, I realized I have maybe 1 friend around in my area anymore. I haven’t been able to attend a university to make new ones like all my high school acquaintances. Which kind of bums me out.
Thank goodness for MMORPGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Games). That is where I met Zachary back in 2007, yes we met online but through a game not an internet dating site. I have made a great handful of awesome supportive friends who live in places like Chicago, all the way down to Miami Florida. Luckily I got to meet a few new faces that day I went to Six Flags and this June I’ll be going down Alabama to visit Zac while Matthew a friend from Chicago will be driving with us down to Miami to meet up with a good 8-10 others.
I am anticipating this vacation more then anything else in my life at the moment. 15 straight days of me being me and not that 1% of the population gets diagnosed with this type of cancer at my age. Not a statistic that sits at home and is still surprised her butt is rather in a cute shape and not a secretary’s seat shelf yet.
I hope you are all fairing well. I have to catch up on a few blogs, I’ll be doing that later tonight. Now to go clothes shopping for the trip. Not to mention that Jergen’s sunless tanner, hopefully I don’t turn orange >.< but I don’t like to be pasty around all my Cuban/Mexican friends hehe and roasting in the sun is the last thing I need.

Your trip sounds like it will be great! I’m envious! I have yet to go to the beautiful beaches of Florida and Alabama. And I say to embrace your whiteness! LOL You have creamy milky skin, not pasty! And protect that white skin-my next doctor visit when this is done will be to the dermatologist to check out every mole and freckle. My skin burns so easily, and I’m not very good about everyday sunscreen.
Have a wonderful trip! Be reasonably careful. And post lots of pics when you get back!
I really hope that you enjoyed yourself and leave the cancer AT HOME. Words of experience. I have been going to FLorida almost every year and I am not sure if I have become sensitive from the treatment but the last 2 times that I have been down there(ST. Pete Beach, Fl) I have come back with 2nd burns though I used a spf30 and each time the burns were only on the tops of my feet that became water blisters the size of a small fruit that ended up sending me to a plastic surgeon. SO BE CAREFUL PLEASE!. You can use the sunless tanners just use them slowly and then carefully wash your hand after each use very good for your hands will be ORANGE if you don’t. It will certainly give you some color. Have FUN, YOU DESERVAE IT! Glad you have made some new friends. Hugs, Patty
Hi Gemma,
I have a daughter your age, although she doesn’t have a blog she reads mine all the time. She is the same age as you and has a group of friends that are gamers, WOW, etc. They meet on sunday’s for board games, they also belong to NERO and PRO. Not sure what PRO stands for but NERO is New England Role Playing Organization. She said you may fit right in with her group of friends, if your interested you can email me at: Angelwthwingz@comcast.net
Have a grand time.

You go girl have fun.

I hope you have more fun than you have ever had in your life! Please be careful of the sun. My melanoma is a result of years in the sun way back when we didn’t have a clue about sun and cancer. My melanoma guy told me you should go to the beach and not change color. Don’t get red, don’t get tan. Stay the same color. Be sure to buy an umbrella and have fun!
